Robert Pattinson Knows Why Kristen Stewart Cheated; 'Fear Of Intimacy' to Blame?

Robert Pattinson reportedly understands why Kristen Stewart cheated on him with a married man in 2012 and although the scandal ultimately ended their relationship, he will always love the actress.

The British actor, 27, is believed to have ended his four-year relationship with his "Twilight" co-star in May due to ongoing trust issues stemming from the cheating scandal. Although Pattinson was initially crushed over Stewart's affair with her married "Snow White and The Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, he has moved past it and no longer harbors resentment towards the actress because he understands why she did it.

"Rob is well aware of why Kristen cheated on him. He understands that it wasn't because of a lack of love,' a source told HollywoodLife.com. "It was more so a fear of intimacy on Kristen's part. Everyone takes on different experiences from their upbringings."

Although Pattinson has forgiven Stewart for her deplorable actions, the "Camp X Ray" star, 23, still blames herself for their failed relationship. Sources claim she regrets her tryst with the father-of-two every day.

"Of course Kristen has some regrets — she feels like she and Rob would be still be together if she had never cheated on him with Rupert," a source revealed. "She misses their friendship the most. He was the one person who really got her, who really understood her."

Pattinson, who is currently busy filming his latest film "Maps to The Stars," is said to be focused on work and is moving forward with his life alone after splitting up with Stewart. A source claims that while the actress still holds a place in his heart, a future reconciliation between the on-and-off pair is unlikely.

"Rob loves Kristen and always will. The toughest thing for Rob was the betrayal, and losing his best friend," a source said. "[Rob] will trust again. But right now, a relationship isn't what he's looking for."
