Samsung Galaxy Nexus Release Date Uncertain

The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Nexus might not make it to stores shelves when it was supposed to after speculations arose concerning further testing of the device.

The Galaxy Nexus smartphone that comes equipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was originally scheduled to be available to the tech faithful on November 17.

However, with just two days to go, not much has been said as to the availability of the phone.

The only confirmed retailer that will be selling the device on Thursday is Britain’s O2.

Online retailer Clove has confirmed that its SIM-free stock of the phone is delayed until Nov. 23, a date that came from Samsung and is "still subject to change."

Mobile operator Three tweeted earlier: "We're expecting stock on the 18th in retail but we can't 100 percent confirm yet. ... For anyone who pre-ordered Galaxy Nexus yesterday, due to stock delays your delivery has changed to 11/22. We'll call you by 8 p.m. with more info."

Therefore, those eager to go a pick up the new phone will have to take the call on the outdated one in their hand

Those of us on this side of the pond speculated the release date to be around Dec. 2. Yet, some rumors claim the handset will not hit stores until sometime in January.

Nevertheless, anything good is always worth the wait. Since this is a Nexus device, users will not have to wait nearly as long to receive updates from Android.

Moreover, with the announcement that the Galaxy Nexus will be available in the United States on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, at least it will have extremely zippy data speeds perfect for media hounds and for those who like to digest content on the run.
