Samsung Galaxy S2 Release Date: T-Mobile Launch Expected in Coming Days

T-Mobile will release the Samsung Galaxy S2 on its network this week, an associate has told The Christian Post.

Until now it has not been clear when T-Mobile USA would be releasing the highly anticipated smartphone. Other carriers, Sprint and AT&T have given specific dates, to the frustration of T-Mobile customers who have been left in the dark.

However, a T-Mobile associate told CP earlier this week that the Galaxy S2 will be released on its network sometime this coming week. But the associate was unable to give a specific date for the release or a price for the smartphone.

The Sprint version of the Galaxy S2, the Epic 4G Touch, was released on Sept. 16 to rave reviews.

At Sprint stores the smartphone has been on display and on sale for $199 with a two-year contract.

The AT&T powered Galaxy S2 was scheduled to release Sept. 18, but the company decided to postpone its release for unknown reasons.

An AT&T customer service representative earlier told CP that they have not been given any specifics on when the device would be released.

The Galaxy S2 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and is accented by Samsung's TouchWiz UI touch screen capability.

Basic specs include a dual-core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Mali-400MP GPU Orion chipset on the Sprint and AT&T versions and a 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm APQ8060 processor on the T-Mobile versions.

The device is also expected to run Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

The Galaxy S2 also has Flash capability, a feature not currently available on any iPhone.

The Galaxy S2 is expected to be direct competition for the iPhone 5, which is rumored, will be released between October and 2012. Samsung has promoted its Galaxy S2 as the “iPhone Killer.”
