"Selena is keeping her heart from being broken so she is definitely looking at this as a trial period in their relationship," a source previously told HollywoodLife.com about Gomez reconciling with Bieber.

"She has told him that if he f---- with her emotions too much, she will drop him," the source explained.

The on-and-off couple initially split on New Year's Eve after having an explosive fight in Mexico, and a source previously claimed that most of their problems stemmed from Gomez's alleged trust issues.

"The problem in the first place is that Selena was a little bit of a jealous girlfriend and Justin wasn't really taking her feelings into regard," a source close to the stars previously told Radar Online.

"Justin doesn't see texting other girls as cheating, but he's promised Selena he'll stop if she takes him back."

While critics including Gomez's best friend, Taylor Swift, have reportedly objected to the actress taking Bieber back, she recently revealed that she is ignoring the naysayers and will stay true to her heart.

"It's uncomfortable that everywhere I go, people know. I don't like that. But Justin and I never really focused on the attention," Gomez told InStyle magazine in May about her relationship with Bieber.

"You can't help who you date," she said in response to her critics. "So I wouldn't swear off that or say that's what I want again. I don't know. I'm a kid, and a breakup is normal. I have to go through the emotions and feel it out. I'm doing my own thing, being with my friends, and he's doing very well too."
