'Sherlock' Season 4 Updates: Shooting Begins 'April-ish'

Since fans of the hit series "Sherlock" have been waiting patiently for the fourth season to come out, they will be happy to hear that shooting is expected to begin soon.

It was reported that the creator of the series, Steven Moffat, had spoken to Collider about the upcoming season. He shared that they have been planning for the season and that Mark Gatiss will be writing the story very soon.

He said, "Mark [Gatiss] will be starting [to write] very soon," he confirmed. "He may have started. I've got to finish my 'Doctor Who' Christmas special, and then I'll be straight onto Sherlock after that. We haven't started, but we've planned. We know what we're doing. Haha. Or we think we know what we think we're doing. There are a couple of things we've got lined up that are really quite strong surprises, but we'll see."
When asked about when will the shooting for "Sherlock" season 4 begin, he replied with, "I think we're shooting next year, April-ish."

However, before the start of the highly anticipated season, the series will be releasing a special episode that will take place in the Victorian times. It is expected to see Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman portraying the Victorian versions of their respective characters.

BBC recently released a trailer for the network's lineup for the season. It featured the stand-alone episode of "Sherlock." It showed the two actors smoking a pipe, dressed in old-fashioned getups. Moffat explained that the special episode will release during Christmas time. However, he did not specify when exactly this Christmas it will air.

Moreover, Moffat also addressed the rumors of a possible "Doctor Who" and 'Sherlock" crossover that had fans buzzing throughout the web. He debunked the speculations by saying that it is definitely not going to happen.
