Simon Cowell Baby News Silence: 'Sensitive to People's Feelings'

Simon Cowell repeatedly redirected questions about the child he is expecting with Lauren Silverman during the Television Critics Association meeting on Thursday.

The "X-Factor" judge and Lauren Silverman, the estranged wife of his close friend Andrew, are having a child together, according to reports Monday.

Silverman, a Manhattan socialite, is in the process of getting a divorce from her real estate mogul husband.

During the TCA meeting in Beverly Hills Thursday, actively avoided questions, and congratulations, pertaining to the scandalous baby news.

"Am I missing something," Cowell initially joked.

"I haven't read the newspapers," the 53-year-old Brit added. "Unfortunately at this moment I have to keep it private," reported Us Magazine.

Then, later on, Cowell went on to explain that his silence was intended to protect "people's feelings."

"There are a lot of things I will eventually clear up when the time is right, but I really have to be sensitive because there's a lot of people's feelings involved here," said the television personality, according to People.com.

Meanwhile, It is believed that Cowell and the Silvermans have known each other for seven years, according to USA Today.

Although it will be Cowell's first child, Lauren Silverman already has a seven-year-old son with her soon-to-be ex- husband. The 36-year-old was reportedly "unhappy in her marriage" to real estate mogul Andrew, People reported.

As for the Silverman divorce, Cowell has been named as an adulterer according to the documents, reported the New York Post.

Furthermore, the scorned husband released a statement Thursday saying this his son was his "top priority" while also "working to resolve all outstanding issues with my wife."

A rep in the U.K. for Cowell said that the television personality's attorney is handling the "very sensitive issue" in the U.S., according to People.com.
