Smith, Adrenaline, Travis and More Wins Grammy

Winners for the 46th Grammy Awards are in! The award ceremony was held on Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and was broadcasted 8-11:30 PM EST. Over the 104 categories honoring extensive genres of music, six categories recognized and celebrated gospel music.

Forefront Records Audio Adrenaline took home a Grammy in the “Best Rock Gospel Album” category for Worldwide.

Michael W. Smith, who just last year celebrated 20 years of his career in Christian Music, won a Grammy for the “Best Pop/Contemporary Album,” Worship Again. The Reunion Records artist reflected on his win in respect to the other nominees in the same category.

“All of the nominees in this category--Jars of Clay, Third Day, Stacie Orrico and Newsboys--are amazing artists,” Smith comments. “I was thrilled to be included among them and even more honored to win.”

In the “Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel Album” category, Randy Travis of Word Records claimed the honor for his latest album, Rise and Shine. “Three Wooden Crosses,” a hit single on the album, was named “Song of the Year” by the Country Music Association last November.

The Blind Boys of Alabama received a Grammy for album Go Tell It On The Mountain in the “Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album” category. The artist group is part of the Real World record label.

Donnie McClurkin of Verity Records accepted an award for …Again, which won in the “Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album” category.

In the “Best Gospel Choir Or Chorus Album” category, The Potter’s House Mass Choir along with choir director Bishop T.D. Jakes won for A Wing And A Prayer, from EMI Gospel/Dexterity Sounds.
