Tamar Braxton Gets Emotional Speaking About Age While Accepting Award

Tamar Braxton recently picked up three Soul Train music awards and let people know that she served as proof that people can accomplish their dreams at any age.

Braxton, the 36-year-old singer-songwriter, received awards for the Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Song of the Year for her hit single Love & War and the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award. Still, the singer let it be known that her journey as an award winning singer has not been easy.

When accepting one of her awards, Braxton addressed the issue of her age.

"I just really wanna leave you guys this note. I never thought in my life, that I would be here," Braxton admitted at the award show, according to thejasminebrand.com. "And the only reason is that because I almost gave up on myself and I just wanna let you guys know. No matter what you wanna be, no matter who you wanna be, don't give up on you."

However, Braxton said she is not ashamed of her age.

"It's possible," Braxton insisted. "I'm 36-years-old and I'm proud of it…and I don't give a damn if I was 56, she was not gonna stop. Point blank and the period."

Earlier this year Braxton, the star of WE TV shows "Tamar & Vince" and "Braxton Family Values" took to her Instagram account to let fans know that she is not too old to have a career, family, or any other dreams that she wishes to pursue.

"I've been called everything but a child of God! The bottom line is that no matter what u say or feel, I'm NEVER going to stop pursuing my dreams and Goals," Braxton wrote on Instagram. "If I'm 188 1/2 still trying, nothing you say or do will move me. So get used to being mad cause GOD is just getting started with me. #thatsall"
