Tarantino Script Leaked, Director Cancels Project: 'I'm Very, Very Depressed'

Director Quentin Tarantino has had to scrap plans involving an upcoming movie after the script for the project leaked, leading the director to question who he can trust in the future.

Tarantino revealed to Deadline.com's Mike Fleming during a recent interview that he was canceling his latest project, a Western called "The Hateful Eight," after copies of the script leaked online this week.

"I'm very, very depressed," Tarantino told Deadline.com. "I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn't mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it's gotten out today."

He learned that the scripted had leaked after his agent Mike Simpson began getting phone calls from agents asking questions about actors for specific roles in the movie.

Tarantino suspects that one of the six people he showed it to must have leaked it themselves or gave it to one of their agents who then leaked the screenplay.

Three of the six people actors were Bruce Dern, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen. Tarantino suspects the "Hateful Eight" script that wound up online after being leaked by a representative from Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

However, reps for CAA told Deadline.com that the agency had no involvement in the script leak.

Still Tarantino admits that he could end up doing the film sometime in the future.

"I could totally change my mind; I own the f------ thing. But I can tell you, it's not going to be the next thing I do. It's my baby, and if the muse calls me later to do it, we'll do it. I was thinking about the idea of maybe publishing it before I made it, but now that deal happens for sure, and I'm not doing it next," he added.
