Tawana Brawley Hoax: Steven Pagones Finally Receiving Defamation Payments in Al Sharpton-Connected Case (VIDEO)

The Tawana Brawley hoax is finally moving again after Brawley started making payments under a court order made years ago. The infamous case saw Brawley accuse Steven Pagones of rape in 1987, but has since been forced to pay defamation payments.

Pagones recently received $3,764.61 from Brawley, according to the New York Post, but she still owes more than $430,000 in damages for the false accusations.

Brawley had reported that she was raped by a gang of white men in 1987, when she was just 15 years old. She claimed that the men raped her before wiping their feces on her, scrawling racial comments over her body.

The shocking description quickly made the story national news, with many expressing outrage at the alleged rape. However, it later turned out that the accusations were false, and investigators determined that Brawley had made up the elaborate lie to avoid punishment for being out past her curfew.

After the rape allegations were determined to be a hoax, Pagones sued Brawley, as well as the Rev. Al Sharpton, and attorneys C. Vernon Mason and Alton Maddox, for defamation. All the parties have paid their damages to Pagones except Brawley, who still reportedly has a lot more to pay.

The original defamation judgment ordered her to pay Pagones $185,000, but she has refused to pay anything until this week. Because of the long delay in making payments she now owes more than $400,000, and has been ordered to pay off the debt with more than $600 per month.

Brawley, meanwhile, remains adamant that she did not lie and that she was raped by Pagones.
