Tebowing Craze Backfires on Broncos' QB

After a divine-like defeat of the Miami Dolphins that spawned an internet meme, Tim Tebow was forced to watch his opponents use “Tebowing” against him as he led the Denver Broncos to a 45-10 defeat against the Detroit Lions.

Tebow was sacked seven times in the game on Sunday, and also had two turnovers that became touchdowns for his opponents.

Stephen Tulloch, Lions’ linebacker, sacked Tebow on Sunday and celebrated by striking a pose all familiar to the Broncos’ starting QB, Tebowing.

"I figured I'd get to him a couple of times this game and had an opportunity to get it in," Tulloch said. "It was a little fun, man. No disrespect to Tebow. I was just doing a little 'Tebowing.' It's fun when you go out there and get after it like we did."

Tony Scheffler, Lions’ tight end, joined in poking fun at the Tebow meme, after catching a touchdown pass and pretending to kneel with his hand on his forehead.

"It's one of those things where you're so amped up, especially being back kind of where it all started for me," Scheffler said after the game. "I was amped up just doing whatever came into my head. It was fun."

Despite the players making fun of Tebow, the Broncos’ QB remained positive after the game and said that he was ready to improve his game.

"We'll bounce back and have a great week of practice and get ready to go try and get a win next week," Tebow said. "I'm just going to get up early and go to work and try to get better tomorrow and consistently improve and be the best person-slash-quarterback for this organization."

Some have even began to question whether the QB will keep his starting position, after the second week of replacing Kyle Orton. John Fox, Broncos’ coach, said the team would make needed adjustments to win games.

"We'll look at it and make changes where we see are needed,” Fox said. “We've definitely got to get better."
