Terrell Owens Fights Child Support Payments Due to No NFL Contract

Terrell Owens is asking a judge to lower his child support payments, since he has yet to get a job offer from the NFL.

A representative for Owens spoke to TMZ about the importance of the 37-year-old football free agent wide receiver getting his payments lowered. According to Newsone, Owens’ was ordered to pay $5,000 monthly.

"His child support payments should mirror his income today and not be based on his income from over four years ago," the source said.

However, Owens failed to show up at his child support hearing in Northern California on Oct. 24. While TMZ reports that the veteran football star attempted to change his court appointment, representatives for the mother of his child.

The football star has made headlines in the past for his failure to make timely child support payments. In June, Newsone reported that the mother filed court papers seeking to hold Owens in contempt for failure to pay child support.

Owens “failed and refused to pay the full amount of child support for June 2011,” court documents stated, according to Newsone. The wideout has been the victim of unfortunate events lately, including conducting a highly publicized workout where no teams were on hand to “woo” the football star into signing a new contract.

Speculation also recently surrounded the WR when a 911 emergency call was released by TMZ, causing some to question whether Owens had attempted to take his own life.

Owens has made no secret about undergoing a difficult year.

“It's been a tough year ever since i left Cincinnati,” Owens told ESPN. “I've sustained a meniscus injury, shortly after that I sustained an ACL injury so really just going through that and going through some personal issues, personal problems within myself.”
