Terry Francona Lost Walking to Ballpark; Cleveland Indians Manager Lives Blocks Away

New Cleveland Indian's manager Terry Francona has all season to figure out the way to the ballpark after the manager got lost several times while walking to the stadium for opening day.

The unfortunate thing for Francona is the fact that he lives only a few blocks away from the stadium in downtown Cleveland. He was still able to make several wrong turns along the way before he was spotted by a stadium employee and brought to the ballpark.

"I got lost three times," Francona told KCRA. "Even when I got to the garage two people who work here said, 'Hey, do you know where you're going?' I was like, 'Nope.'"

He revealed that he intends on living in downtown Cleveland throughout the season and is planning on using the same scooter he used during spring training in Arizona to get him to the ballpark on game day.

Along the way, the former Boston Red Sox's manager said he encountered friendly people as they did their best to put him on the right path.

"Cleveland is officially the nicest people I've ever met … everybody I did walk by said, 'Hello.' That's a little different than I'm used to," Francona said.

The manager added that he has always liked living in close proximity to the stadiums rather than having to drive from far away.

"I like being close to the ballpark, always have … if I had my druthers on the road, I would rather stay in a motel next to the ballpark than have to drive a half-hour," the manager told KRCA.

It was especially important for Francona to get to the ballpark on time has he was scheduled to catch the ceremonial first pitch from his father, who played for the Indians from 1959-64.

"That will be really cool for me. Guys would say, 'Hey, little Tito,' it just kind of stuck," he added
