The Christian Cure

How did America get into such a political and economic mess? The Bible says, "The Lord shall open unto thee His good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless the work of thine hand, and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And the Lord shall make thee the head and not the tail…" Deuteronomy 28:12-13.

After changing diapers for 3 children and 14 grandchildren, I know the difference in the head and the tail, and I can smell what America is becoming. We have been so blessed as a nation, but are jobs vanishing? Is the Bible Belt South suffering a drought? Is the U.S. borrowing money from other nations? Is America the head or the tail?

Deuteronomy 28 begins, "And it shall come to pass, IF thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God to observe to DO all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth." "IF" means it's conditional! How many times do we pass a Ten Commandments sign in a yard, but how many people know the Ten Commandments by heart, let alone keep them.

Another important "IF" to consider for America is found in II Chronicles 7:14, "IF My people, called by My Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." "IF" and "THEN", with the onus on God's people first!

There is a great cancer in our land, and it's abortion - the only sanctioned murder of a human life except for criminal justice and war. It is the frenzied cry of the liberal left who stand on their sinking sand foundation and rail at Pro-Life candidates such as John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin. A candidate's stand on abortion should be the litmus test for every vote we cast. But Christians have a greater responsibility, that I believe, may be the key to the cure for our nation.

Christians have been deceived, negligent , or have chosen to ignore the reality of our own culpability and guilt concerning abortion. Not only have we ignored where a candidate stands on abortion, but there is a more personal and insidious truth to consider. All birth control pills on the market today contain an abortifacient that can cause a chemical abortion. Chemical abortions far outweigh the number of surgical abortions, and every woman who takes birth control pills to prevent pregnancy is potentially taking the life of her own tiny child. Don't take my word for it, or the word of a doctor, or even the word of a pharmacist. Look at the clinical pharmacology statement on every insert of every birth control pill sold in the U.S.A. today, and it will state, "…may prevent implantation". In a pregnancy, the multiplying-cell babe, which you and I once were, travels down the fallopian tube to the nurturing lining of a fertile, waiting womb. ALL birth control pills today have a chemical backup that makes the walls of the womb hostile to the baby and it can then be expelled.

So whose side are we really on? How Pro-Life are we? Psalm 139 tells us that God knows us from the womb. Do we think He doesn't know that Christians are chemically aborting children? Do we think He doesn't care? A pastor once said, "Jeanette, don't you believe in modern medicine?" A friend later said, "Why didn't you say that a child is not a disease?" I wish I had. I wish I had never taken birth control pills myself. I wish for my whole life, I had left it up to God to determine how many children we would have.

When confronted with the truth, we become responsible for acting upon that truth. It's humbling to realize you've been so wrong about something. To pray and seek God's face is to repent, and to turn from our wicked ways is to be converted to God's way and not our own.

"And the Lord shall make thee plenteous for good, in the fruit of thy body and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, and in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee," Deut. 28:11. You see, we have a real dilemma when it comes to our blessings. We want wealth that comes from cattle, grain, and land, but not the first and most important blessing and source of true wealth - children!

Candidates, congress, nor the courts are the key to the healing of our land, but Christians are!!! May God Bless America!
