The Truth About Achieving the Greatest Victory in Life

Many years ago, God gave me a vision of a worldwide ministry. Today, I'm living my dream – more than thirty years later.

I had to go through a lot of changes during those years to reach this place. And in the process, I discovered it takes time, commitment, steadfast diligence and endurance to get victory and reach my goals.

Second Corinthians 3:18 says, "But we all…are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit" (NASB). God changes us into His image as we continue in His Word.

But we won't change if we just read the Bible once and say a prayer – we change as we continue in the Word. And the change happens as God takes us from glory to glory, little by little. It's a process that takes time.

Little Things Matter More Than You Think

We don't usually get excited about little things, but a lot of "littles" can eventually make something big – if we don't give up.

And we can't rush the process because when we hurry, we usually don't end up doing things right or very well. God isn't in a hurry. He does things right – all the time.

I've been studying the Bible for a long time. I remember that after the first five years or so of diligently studying the Word, I didn't feel like I had made any progress. There were a lot of things in my life that were out of order and I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere. But even though I felt this way, I really had made progress and was changing – little by little.

Do you ever feel like that? Like you're just not getting anywhere?

Realize that the devil wants you to quit and give up. But if you will stand your ground and continue to do what's right, you will make progress.

The Pitfalls of Giving Up Too Soon

We have a tendency to start something, make progress, then go through a period of waiting, make more progress, then wait again… This can be challenging! When we make progress quickly, it feeds our emotions. Then, when there's a period of waiting or we hit a plateau, we find out how committed we really are and whether we're going to see things through to the finish or quit.

One big mistake we can make during these times is to compare ourselves with others, measuring our progress and status against theirs. This usually just makes us upset, wondering why we aren't like them, which causes us to feel sorry for ourselves and be jealous.

We have to get our eyes off of everybody else and focus on God. Be happy about what God is doing in your life. You may not be where you want to be, but you aren't where you used to be!

Remember that God is changing you, taking you from glory to glory. And He wants you to enjoy the glory you're in right now.

I want to challenge you to make a decision – on purpose – to be committed to your relationship with God and fulfilling His plans for your life for the long haul. The truth is, you're going to spend your time doing something. It might as well be something that's worthwhile and not a waste of time.

Invest your time in making progress in your relationship with God. When you are determined to pursue the course for your life that He has planned for you – in His way – you will be a victorious Christian and fulfill the vision He's given you for your life!
