'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers: Show Will Stick to Comics, Seth Gilliam to Join Cast

The cast and executive producers of "The Walking Dead" came together Friday at San Diego Comic-Con for several Season 5 announcements.

Show runner Scott Gimple said the gang will get out of the train car eventually, though he didn't disclose when. During the "Walking Dead" panel, he screened a funny clip which found Rick and his fellow train passengers feasting on one another. Later on he revealed that the clip was a fake.

Gimple then revealed real details on what's in store for everyone on the new season.

"Once they lost the prison, all bets were off. They did find out that you can't come back from the things that you've done … This season is going to define these characters … We're going to see the story of Terminus. We're going to see how it happened," he explained.

"We'll probably revisit a few places you'll recognize … but there are new worlds being introduced as well," said executive producer Greg Nicotero.

Fans are also wondering about Beth's whereabouts. Though Emily Kinney couldn't reveal what exactly her character is up to, she said, "[Beth's] gotten a lot stronger."

"We've seen her lose her father and leave the farm where she grew up. [Daryl] really taught her some survival skills. She's lived a little now. She's not a teenager anymore," she said.

Those who are loyal to the original comic book version of "The Walking Dead" will also be happy to know that the show runners plan to "stick pretty close to the comics."

New faces are also expected to be coming onboard for season 5. Executive producer Dave Alpert confirmed that Seth Gilliam is joining the show as Father Gabriel Stokes.

"The Walking Dead" Season 5 will premiere on Oct. 12 at 9/8c on AMC.
