Tim Tebow Preparing for Jets Starting Position? Mark Sanchez Weighs In

Former Denver Broncos Quarterback Impresses New Teammates With Leadership Skills

Tim Tebow, 24-year-old quarterback who was acquired by the New York Jets as a backup to Mark Sanchez, may be working his way to a starting position after impressing teammates recently.

Tebow, a Christian quarterback who worked his way to become a starter over Kyle Orton on the Denver Broncos last season, took over the position last October after fans beckoned him with "Tebow" chants. Now, many are questioning if Tebow will take over Sanchez's role.

"Is Tim Tebow already winning a NY Jets starting job," the NFL questioned on its official Twitter account.

It seems the current backup QB is already winning his teammates over. Recently, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis spoke about Tebow's leadership on the team.

"He's a born leader. He really is," Revis told the New York Daily News. "Very few athletes have the gift that he has. He tries to lead by example all the time and he tries to be positive, which is awesome."

The cornerback spoke about watching Tebow play in Denver and being impressed.

"I think that result is in his success on the field," Revis said. "He came in with Denver and did unbelievable. And now he's with us."

Veteran linebacker Bart Scott was a starter who seemed to also be enamored by his new teammate, telling the media recently, "I love Tebow."

Still, the Jets organization has made it clear that, for now, Sanchez will be their starter at the quarterback position. The current QB seemed to downplay the media's questions about Tebow taking his position.

"I hope every backup qb wants the job of the starter. That's the way you have to prepare," Sanchez said. "Fortunately for Tim he has the ability to do other things, that's why he's on board. He's the backup QB first and he'll go on to do other stuff."
