Tito Ortiz Crashes Porsche; MMA Fighter Arrested for DUI

Tito Ortiz, the former light heavyweight champion of the MMA Ultimate Fighting Championship, crashed his Porsche Panamera around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Ortiz had been driving on a highway in Los Angeles when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

Tito Ortiz's accident came after a night of partying at the BCS National Championship pre-party, which was held at the Playboy Mansion. 38-year-old Ortiz and two other unnamed passengers were in the Porsche when he crashed into the center median on the 405 Freeway. Fortunately, neither the MMA fighter nor his passengers were seriously injured, though the car was considerably damaged, according to KTLA.com.

Authorities arrived on the scene of the accident and arrested Ortiz after he blew a .12 on the breathalyzer- the acceptable legal limit in California is .08. He was then taken to the LAPD 77th Division to make sure he was unhurt and for booking.

After sobering up, Ortiz was told to pay his bond, which was $15,000, in order for his release. By 8:13 a.m., he was released from the detention center.

The police report released by the California Highway Patrol stated that the fighter was arrested on suspicion of a DUI, which is classified as a misdemeanor. Ortiz will appear in court on Jan. 27.

This isn't Ortiz's first run-in with the law. The MMA fighter was arrested for domestic violence against his girlfriend, former porn star Jenna Jameson, in 2010. During the incident, he also accused her of being addicted to OxyContin, though the couple eventually recanted their claims against each other.

Ortiz currently fights for Bellator MMA. They have not yet commented on the incident.
