Tony Dungy to Tim Tebow: The Lord Has a Good Spot for You

When it comes to Tim Tebow and his supporters, it appears no circumstance goes wasted as an opportunity to encourage others – even in times of unemployment from the NFL for the Christian athlete.

"I know Tim Tebow must be frustrated that he hasn't found the right team yet and is still searching. Here's the advice I would give to Tim as he waits for his new team," wrote Tony Dungy, retired NFL coach and national spokesman for All Pro Dad, in his blog.

Dungy's words come as an introduction to his short video clip on the All Pro Dad website in which he says, "Tim Tebow, I know, is really disappointed that he hasn't got it going and on a team, in a direction, knowing what locker room he is going to be in right now, but the advice I'd have for Tim is just to be patient, be faithful, the Lord has a good spot for you, He's going to give you the right situation.

"Tim's a winner. He's a guy that lifts his teammates. He lifts the spirits of any team that he's with. So he's going to find a place to go to work and he'll find the right spot and give those guys some encouragement and be a chance to be a winner. So my advice would be to just be patient, wait for the Lord to show you that right team and be ready to go," concludes Dungy.

Tebow has remained fairly quiet on the subject of his release from the N.Y. Jets several weeks ago. No team has picked him up and speculation from football analysts as to where he should go, what he should do, and what brought him to his current status continues in the sports world at a steady clip. Meanwhile, Tebow remains popular as an inspirational speaker at churches and leadership conferences.

All Pro Dad, a nonprofit family advocacy group, took the opportunity to use Dungy's words as an encouragement to others faced with similar situations in the work force. In its blog, "Tim Tebow and Overcoming Obstacles," All Pro Dad writes, "Have you ever had an experience at work or home where it didn't work out in your favor? If so, how did you respond? And what got you through those tough times?

"Just as Coach [Dungy] advised Tebow to be patient and ready to go, we must do the same when hard circumstances or disappointments come our way. These are important values to begin instilling in your children from an early age. While there must be a balance between pushing too hard and being patient, teaching your kids perseverance is important because it produces character. Strong character is what remains during the fire of trials."

In addition to linking to Dungy's video, the All Pro Dad blog links to a post describing "10 Ways to Teach Your Children to Overcome Obstacles."

Actor Chuck Norris also views Tebow as a source of inspiration. The martial arts expert recently made sports talk news by giving his thoughts on Tebow, writing in a column that the athlete's toughness is like his own. He also makes the case that the Jacksonville Jaguars should sign the ex-Jet, ex-Bronco.

Norris said he has been following Tebow since he was the Florida Gators' quarterback, "and I never have seen a more determined or inspiring athlete to play the game of football."
