Top 5 Things to Like About Chick-fil-A

Credit :

I grew up in Florida, but I didn't have my first taste of Chick-fil-A until college. Then it was on. A regular coupon for 'Buy one combo meal, Get a free sandwich' meant that I indulged in two sandwiches in one sitting more times than I'd like to admit. (And that I loaded up on coupon books whenever I saw a stack of them.)

Now that I live in New York City, CFA and I don't see each other as much as we used to, but the bond is still there. Wondering why, I rustled up the Top 5 Things I Like About Chick-fil-A. (And I'll pass on the low-hanging fruit of "It's a Christian company!" We all know that and love 'em for it.)

Finally, believe it or not, this post is NOT sponsored by Chick-fil-A.

5. Instrumental versions of Christian songs

In 2012, the Atlanta-based chain replaced the Christian songs played in restaurants with instrumental versions after some customers complained. While some believers see this as another battleground, I'll give the restaurant a pass. Instead, it's like a game of "Name That Tune" going on overhead. "If We are the Body?…No, Lifesong! Lifesong!"

4. Fun for the kids

Every CFA store I've been to has a clean and colorful playground, complete with anti-bacterial handwipes. Great for the kids to burn some energy; great for parents to order a milkshake all for themselves while the kiddos play.

3. The Cookie Sundae

As I was doing research for this post at a CFA store in Florida, I asked an employee about my favorite dessert, the Brownie Sundae. It's a dense chocolatey brownie topped with their trademark vanilla Icedream, Hershey's chocolate syrup and a cherry. Rather, it WAS. My source said that management took the brownie off the menu due to lagging sales (probably caused by my move to New York several years ago.)

Still, the Cookie Sundae is no slouch, with chocolate chip cookie chunks replacing the brownie in the aforementioned recipe. It's a delectable concoction that beats any other fast food dessert.

2. Closed on Sundays

Ask me any given Sunday after church, and I won't feel so great about this. But when I look at the big picture, the fact that the company observes the Sabbath, even with the potential of monster lunch and catering sales, is admirable.

1. The Chick-n-Minis

I'll let the company website do the talking about this heavenly breakfast offering:

"Bite-sized Chick-fil-A® Nuggets nestled in warm, mouth-watering mini yeast rolls that are lightly coated with honey butter spread (3 or 4-count)."

Four-count, indeed! While many of you may prefer the Chicken Biscuit, I enjoy the soft sweetness of the yeast rolls contrasting with the crisp, savory nuggets. Is it breakfast time yet?

Honorable Mention:

The triumvirate of condiments: Heinz Dip & Squeeze Ketchup packets, Texas Pete's Hot Sauce, SueBee Clover Honey. These last two with the Chick-n-Minis are a match made in Heaven.
