Jessica Brown Findlay has spoken about her regret at taking part in a topless scene in the early part of her career.

The Downton Abbey actress has admitted that she was naive at the beginning of her career but now regrets agreeing to do the topless scene in her first film.

Findlay is now best known for playing Lady Sybil Crawley on hit TV show Downton Abbey, but was convinced to do a revealing scene in her first film.

The British actress was just 22 years old at the time, and now says: "To be honest, Albatross was naivete and not knowing that I could say no … I had no idea what was going to happen and thought I was going to be shot from behind. It's not something I would do again."

Jessica Brown Findlay was cast in the lead role of Emelia in the film Albatross, directed by Niall MacCormick.

She was subsequently cast in two episodes of the E4 program Misfits and in Downton Abbey.

She appeared in the second episode of Channel 4's Black Mirror, and in 2012, she became the face of Dominic Jones' jewelry line and was cast in Not Another Happy Ending by John McKay, and in the miniseries Labyrinth, based on the novel of the same name written by Kate Mosse, portraying Alaïs Pelletier.

In 2012, she was cast as Beverly Penn in a film adaptation of the novel Winter's Tale.

Tim Burton considered Brown Findlay for the lead in his adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, but ultimately gave the role to Australian actress Mia Wasikowska.
