"I had to ask my own people, 'Have you not told me something?'" Moss told USA Today.

However, she expressed the feeling of being honored to be considered to play a role in the highly-acclaimed TV show.

"For me as an actor who's been in this business for over 25 years, it's so flattering to be associated with that show. (And) for anyone to think that I could be a part of that show," "The West Wing" star continued.

Michelle Forbes, another AMC star, could be joining the criminal drama's cast for its forthcoming second season, The Wrap revealed.

The publication further speculated that while Moss could be cast for a police role, Forbes, on the other hand, is could take up the role of a wife. She would either be tied to the purported shady businessman character Frank Semyon or grizzled detective Ray Velcoro.

It was previously rumored that "Wedding Crashers" actor Vince Vaughn will take up the role for Semyon and "Alexander" star Colin Farell for Velcoro.

"True Detective" is slated to continue airing on HBO for its second season in January 2015.
