Trump Supporter Ann Coulter Now Wants the President Impeached?
Best-selling author and conservative commentator Ann Coulter hinted at supporting the impeachment of President Donald Trump, apparently reversing her once staunch support.
In a series tweets posted Thursday morning, Coulter took issue with the reported deal Trump made with Democrats on reinstituting the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
"At this point, who DOESN'T want Trump impeached?" tweeted Coulter, followed by "If we're not getting a wall, I'd prefer President Pence."
"Coulter predicted Trump's deal in her column on Wednesday, writing that Trump would spell the end of America if he colluded with Democrats to authorize DACA immigrants to stay in the U.S.," reported the Daily Wire.
"Coulter just went on from there, blaming Trump for being easy to 'roll' (like an 'Easter egg') and Steve Bannon for leading her and other Trump followers astray."
During the 2016 presidential election season, Coulter voiced her support for then candidate Trump, releasing a book titled In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!
"Donald Trump isn't a politician — he's a one-man wrecking ball against our dysfunctional and corrupt establishment," the book's descriptionreads in part.
"In this powerful book, Coulter explains why conservatives, moderates, and even disgruntled Democrats should set aside their doubts and embrace Trump."
Her stated reasons for supporting Trump included: "He's ended GOP pandering to Hispanic activists with his hard-line policy on immigration;" "He's overturned the media's traditional role in setting the agenda and defining who gets to be considered 'presidential;'" and "He's exposed political consultants as grifters and hacks, most of whom don't know real voters from a hole in the ground."
In February, Coulter commended Trump's performance at a press conference, going as far as to label the president the "head of church."
"Trump is already head of state. After that press conference, in my eyes, he's now head of church," tweeted Coulter months back.
Coulter's comments are in response to a dinner meeting Trump held with Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House of Representatives Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday evening regarding DACA and immigration regulation.
While Schumer and Pelosi said they had come to a deal with Trump on DACA and the proposed border wall, Trump took to social media to deny the existence of any such deal.
"No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote," tweeted Trump.
"The Wall (on the U.S.-Mexico border), which is already under construction in the form of new renovation of old and existing fences and walls, will continue to be built."
