VeggieTales Contest Calls for Personal Testimonies of God’s Love

One of the most prominent Christian children's programs is reaching out to all of the U.S., and is inviting Americans to submit their own personal stories of life with Christ.

VeggieTales, a computer animated series that depicts biblical themes and stories, is compiling a number of personal testimonies that exhibit how people's lives have changed or been touched by the Bible, and will feature them on an upcoming DVD that will be released in August.

"Have you come to experience God's love in a unique way?" asked a contest summary by Big Idea, Inc., the distributor of VeggieTales. "Do you have a special story to tell? If so – we'd like to hear it . . . and we'd like to share it!"

The new contest links to a main feature of the VeggieTales series. During each episode, the two main characters, Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, encourage children that "God made you special, and He loves you very much."

In a similar way, the contest wishes to show how God has personally touched the lives of Christians and manifested his love.

"Over the years, we have received the most amazing letters from fans telling us how they learned that they are special to God," said Greg Fritz, vice president of marketing for Big Idea, in a statement. "We want to give these fans a voice and share their stories with a larger audience. Featuring them online and on our new DVD will be especially rewarding for everyone here at Big Idea."

To enter, interested applicants should submit their entries by May 31 to Big Idea's website – www.bigidea.com. In it, they should tell their own unique story about how God has impacted them in a rare way.

Entries are limited to 1,000 words or less.

Several of the submissions will then be featured on the website throughout the summer, and a few select choices will be put onto a new DVD release called God Made You Special.

The video, which is due out in stores on Aug. 11 and 14, will also include four former VeggieTales stories on one DVD: "Dave and the Giant Pickle," "A Snoodle's Tale," "Dr. Jiggle & Mr. Sly," and "The Gourds Must Be Crazy."

VeggieTales has been around for 14 years, and has sold more than 50 million videos. Its biggest success was Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, which brought in $25 million in theater revenue in 2002.
