'Vikings' Season 5: Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha Looks to Be Staying On

Although there has been no official word on the season 5 air date for "Vikings," some of the show's upcoming storylines are already being talked about online. For the new season, speculation mainly revolves around the fate of Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen), Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and Harald (Peter Franzen).

In what might be a surprising news for fans that devoutly follow "Vikings," it looks like Lagertha will be staying alive for most of the upcoming season. According to Sports World News, "Vikings" star Winnick has been active on social media, especially on Instagram in which she shared a photo of the script for the 16th episode of "Vikings" season 5.

It's safe to say, then, that Lagertha will be staying on for a long way into the fifth season of "Vikings." Given that Winnick also posted another snapshot of the episode 18 script, it looks like the actress will be around until the end of the upcoming new season.

While Lagertha looks to be a resilient presence in the upcoming season 5 of "Vikings," it does not mean that she won't have her share of troubles. Harald, one of the main antagonists for season 5, will be coming for her head. The sons of Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) will be looking to kill her as well.

If that is not enough, the Seer (John Kavanagh) almost spells it out for her as he pronounces the eerie omen in the teaser of season 5. Understandably, Lagertha is shocked at hearing the words that pronounce her doom, which is brought about by the circumstances revolving Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) death.

"I see death. The consequences of Ragnar's death are not yet played out," the Seer spoke of his prophecy. "You have only seen the beginning of the end. So now, prepare yourself for what is to come," the Seer continued. When asked by Lagertha about the outcome, the Seer asked her back.  "Do you suppose you could change your fate if you knew it?" the Seer countered, as quoted by the International Business Times.

Although her fate looks to be more or less sealed, it seems that Lagertha will be around for some time in the upcoming season 5 of "Vikings."
