A Walmart shooting in Neenah has left a 56 year old woman, who worked at the store, in a critical condition.

The incident reportedly took place in the Walmart store's liquor section, and resulted in a 46 year old Greenville woman being arrested. Early reports indicate that the suspect is also believed to have been an employee at the Walmart.

Officers responded to emergency calls regarding the shooting soon after, and rushed to the scene. There, they arrested the suspect and also recovered a handgun at the scene.

The shooting took place at about 11.15 a.m. local time, and there were no customers in the liquor section when the incident took place on Wednesday.

The victim was rushed by ambulance to the Theda Clark Medical Center. Officials have reported that she had suffered a single gunshot wound to the torso.

A hospital spokesperson has confirmed that the victim is in a critical condition, but did not offer any details about the worker's identity.

According to The Associated Press, Neenah Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson explained that authorities have not determined the motive surrounding the shooting, and that their investigations are continuing into what could have sparked the incident.

According to the Post-Crescent Media, a Walmart employee later also claimed that both women were cashiers employed at the store, and it is likely that they knew each other.
