'White Flag' Scores Rocketown Its First No. 1 Album

Singer/songwriter Shaun Groves tops the Neilsen Soundscan Christian retail charts this week selling more than 4,000 units of his third studio album White Flag during the street week of its release. The accomplishment marks Groves’ highest first week of sales to date as well as the first No. 1 selling album for Rocketown Records in the company’s nine-year history.

“Shaun Groves has not only established himself as a premier artist and musician but also as a compelling communicator and teacher,” said Rocketown Records’ Director of Sales and Distribution Mike McCloskey. “With the strong release of White Flag, we are excited to see consumers respond as they’re impacted by Shaun’s music and message.”

To market White Flag,an intentionally aggressive Street Week promotional plan was employed that included Groves playing live in front of more than 4,500 people. Shaun writes about the “Tuesday” of White Flag’s in his blog:

“Street Week sales actually begin being tabulated at 5:01 Monday evening and NOT Tuesday,” writes Groves. “In light of that we played our first Street Week show in Boca Raton (Mouth of the Rat) on Monday the 11th and sold CD’s beginning at 5:01.”

In further support of White Flag, Groves has announced that he will be touring this fall with special opening acts Kendall Payne and Jason Morant.

“Kendall Payne inspires me to make better music,” said Groves. “The gears in her head turn at a different pace than the rest of us, and she sets the standard for songwriting for many of us who do it for a living. And Jason Morant’s name comes up often on the road as people after shows tell me about the amazing worship experience his concerts have been for them. I’m looking forward to sharing a stage with the two people I respect so much and together ministering while entertaining.”

“The goal is to come together as a team to move religious people just like us beyond religion to following Christ,” he continues. “I believe together we can make people smile, dance, laugh and love a little more. I can’t wait.”
