'Wolverine 3' Update: Hugh Jackman Reveals Script Is Almost Finished, Release Date Expected 2017

It's no secret that a "Wolverine 3" movie is in the works and Hugh Jackman himself gave an update about it. According to a report by Collider, they got the opportunity to talk with Jackman at Sundance before the secret screening of the actor's latest film "Eddie the Eagle." He mentioned the script for the film and confirmed that it is in fact almost complete.

"We have a script. A full script. To tell you, two days ago I got that the full finished—well, it's not finished, but we're getting super close—as you can see by the rate of my facial hair," Jackman said. "That might give you a good clue that perhaps…yeah, it's sooner rather than later," he added.

Apparently, the next film based on Marvel Comics' "X-Men" character Wolverine is going to be the last time that Jackman will carry the role. According to Cinema Blend, the 47-year-old actor has played the role of Logan/Wolverine for 16 years already and has portrayed the character a total of six times in the movies. That is why, last year, Jackman announced that the yet-untitled third "Wolverine" film would be his last one.

This is also the reason why shooting for the movie has not started yet and they are taking time with the production. Jackman has been very particular about the script and wants it to be perfect so that he can let go of the character in an epic manner.

"My thing and I've told you and I've told everyone, it's my last one, for me I want it to be perfect, so the moment I know it's perfect, bang, we'll go," the Australian movie star explained.

Production is speculated to start in early 2016 considering the almost complete script. But until an official announcement is made, fans will just have to wait for updates. The movie is also set to be released in theaters on March 3, 2017. There's still a possibility though that it will be changed.
