After Wonder Woman's debut in the DC Extended Universe, there is much to anticipate regarding her solo film.
Fans of the DC comics were happy to see Gal Gadot's portrayal of Wonder Woman, despite the dark themes presented in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." In addition, her introduction to the universe will pave the way for the formation of the iconic Justice League.
With that, Digital Spy was able to speak to Gadot about what the solo film "Wonder Woman"will bring to the big screens. The actress teased that much like "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," the upcoming film will also be dark. Gadot also explained that fans will get to know more about her character when the movie releases.
She said, "In Batman v Superman, you get a glimpse of who she is but not where she comes from. In Wonder Woman, this would be the first time we ever tell the coming-of-age story of how Diana becomes Wonder Woman. It's very interesting. It has moments of humor, but it's pretty dark."
She stated that her character will present a new aura to the DC Cinematic Universe, compared to the previously released DC films such as "Batman," and "Superman." She said, "We all saw before the beautiful coming of age of Batman and Superman. We don't know anything about Wonder Woman. We go back 100 years to when she's more naïve. She's this young idealist. She's pure. Very different to the experienced, super-confident, grown-up woman you've seen."
Avid comic book fans are aware that Wonder Woman is responsible for bringing the Justice League together. Now that she is entering the DC Extended Universe, there is a lot of excitement for how the franchise will bring about her goal of forming the iconic group of heroes.
"Wonder Woman" is expected to hit theaters on Jun. 2, 2017.
