Xiaomi Mi 6 to Pack Bigger RAM and Storage but Last-Gen Processor?

In the latest set of leaks to come out about the Xiaomi Mi 6, it has been made known that the flagship out of the China-based tech company will be quite the powerhouse.

An image shared on Weibo, which shows the "About" section of the device, revealed that the Xiaomi flagship will offer 6 GB random-access memory (RAM) and 256 GB storage.

This serves as a major upgrade from its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 5, whose premium version came with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage.

The leaked image also shows that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be powered by a 2.7 GHz processor, the specifics of which are still conflicting in the latest reports and leaks about the flagship.

In another piece of information found on Weibo, it was revealed that the handset will initially ship out with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor.

This should allow Xiaomi to release the Xiaomi Mi 6 on time while awaiting the release of Qualcomm's latest, the Snapdragon 835 chipset, which was supposed to be the processor to be used on the flagship but was delayed due to production issues.

The same Weibo report claims that when the newer Snapdragon processor becomes available, Xiaomi will then ship out a version of its offering with it.

Phone Arena says that while users will not miss out on much with a Snapdragon 821-powered Xiaomi Mi 6, the Chinese tech company is still coming out with a model powered by the Snapdragon 835 simply because it has no choice but to succumb to the demands of users to have the latest of what technology has to offer.

The big players in the mobile industry, such as Samsung, Sony and Apple, will likely force companies like Xiaomi to keep up with the times for the sake of staying in the competition and staying relevant.

That being said, Xiaomi is expected to still launch the Snapdragon 821-equipped Xiaomi Mi 6 to avoid a lull in its calendar, but is looking to upgrade it when the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 arrives. There are also reports that there will be a version of the Xiaomi Mi 6 with the Helio X30 processor as well.

As for the release date, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to come out next month.
