African Witches Come to Christ through Jesus Film

[-] Text [+]

In a central African nation with a dark history of witchcraft, the Gospel message is breaking through and touching the hearts and lives of villagers, including witches.

Screenings of the “Jesus” film in the Central African Republic has led to tens of thousands of commitments for Christ, dozens of churches planted, and witches being freed from dark forces, according to The Jesus Film Project.

Central African Republic, which neighbors the highly-troubled nations of Chad and Sudan, has struggled with what some might consider an epidemic of witchcraft. Local witches reportedly have the power to kill and cause excruciating physical pain, leading to great fear among villagers.

The government routinely imprisons accused witches, but has found that prison walls cannot contain their power.

When witches saw the “Jesus” film – which follows the life and teachings of Jesus Christ – in their own language, many reportedly were convicted by the Holy Spirit. They repented of their sins, were freed from their spiritual bondage, and committed their lives to Jesus Christ, The Jesus Film Project reported.

In the Bossangoa area in western CAR, people have dubbed the “Jesus” film, “The Miracle Film.”

The region’s governor has personally called the “Jesus” film team to thank them for the “miracles” the movie has done on the witches in his area.

Next month in June, “Jesus” film teams plan to reach those speaking the Gbeya language in CAR. There are some 176,000 people in the country that speak this language, including the country’s current president.

manpleaser -- get over yourself. You are a sinner just like the rest of us. Don't speak as if you have it all figured out. Again, get over yourself.

    Manpleaser,

It is not serving Yahweh when you make many declarative statements that are from nowhere on this article comments section. It isn't pleasing to God or man or service to Him when you take up so much space to preach at people out of context.

Unless you believe that Jesus walked around and invaded conversations with sermonettes unrelated to the conversations that were ongoing, you aren't imitating Christ (Ephesians).

    Grace and Peace,
    Jim

I don't know if these are real witches or just outcasts, but do not underestimate the enemy of Satan. He has real power on this Earth. Even though Americans have become very skeptical of the supernatural, in other parts of the world signs and miracles are still very real and deceptive. I am thankful that this film is being used to the glory of Jesus Christ our Redeemer!

I read in college that these "witches" are just widows and old women who are considered a drain on the society...so they're accused of being witches and everything is blamed on them. I guess to "weed" them out. Kinda a crummy life for people over there. Hopefully Christianity will help them treat each other better.

BTW ... I'm AGAIN ... aware of the irony of commenting on an article about witches, while sporting the alias, "MuggleBorn" :^)

I'm not really sure I've ever believed that witches have ever had any real power, at least not supernatural. I've always considered that their power lies in the suggestibility of those that fear them.

Now before you give me a thumbs down :^) for making a statement of definitive skepticism about something that I can't say for sure doesn't exist ... let me put it this way. I've always been skeptical that God would put such power in the hands of those who side with the enemy, rather than simply leave them to damnation ... the same risks that any idolaters face. Their victims may suffer due to a lack of faith in the blood of Jesus Christ to protect them from evil.

... but that's all speculation on my part. I've seen and read some interesting stories on demonology, possession, etc, and have been present during a couple of rather "subtle" X-File-ish events, but have never seen anything significant. I know ... not having seen something doesn't make it non-existent.

In any case though, "praise The Lord for the salvation of these people!" I hope that they experience the consistent joy that can only be received by the Holy Spirit, from now on. And I pray that their conversions will also serve as a demonstrative testimony for those that once feared them ... that THEY may also see the power that God has in our lives, and may also be saved.

    Amen.

There's no one like God. How wonderful he is in all his Works. Bless us Lord Jesus to be just like you. And Lord may these Precious Souls be discipled and sent to bring in more lost sheep, for your Glory always, Amen.
