God's love is the greatest gift we can receive in life. And it's also the key to experiencing the abundant life John 10:10 is talking about: peace, joy, right standing with God, and freedom from bitterness, anger and every kind of misery.
To be more than a conqueror means that before you ever get a problem, you already know that whatever problem comes your way, you can overcome it through Christ. You live with confidence that God loves you no matter what and He will never leave you nor forsake you.
It's so easy to settle for less than God's best for us because we don't always feel like taking responsibility for our behavior or putting forth some effort to do what we need to do so we can accomplish great things for God and help people. But the cost of settling for less is actually harder than being completely obedient to God's will.
So much of what we do every single day is the result of habits that we have formed over time. And when it comes to establishing healthy, new patterns in our lives, I've found that spending time with God and acknowledging Him in all of our ways is one of the most important and rewarding habits we can ever develop1 comments
The conscience can be a strong guide in life if we allow it. It seems there are lots of people who go to church regularly, know the Word from front to back, and still behave in ways that are not so godly. The function of the conscience is to correct and reprimand, or to make us feel uneasy when we do something unpleasing to God.1 comments
Many people feel so pressured by the expectations of others that it causes them to be frustrated, miserable and confused about what they should do. But there is a way to live a simple, joy-filled, peaceful life, and the key is learning how to be led by the Holy Spirit, not the traditions or expectations of man.
We may need to ask ourselves: What are we showing the world? What is it that keeps us "salty"? How do we, as Christians, keep our lights shining in the darkness around us? Aside from our Jesus pins and bumper stickers, what sets us apart in the world?
We want to be holy…but sometimes that just seems much easier said than done. Well the good news is you don't have to make that happen! In fact, you can't become holy in your own strength. Yes, God does expect us to live holy, consecrated lives. But not even the best of our intentions can make it happen.
When we enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, something wonderful happens: God begins to change our desires, and we want to be more like Him. That is good news! However, there's one important lesson we need to learn—we cannot change ourselves. In fact, trying to bring about change in our own strength will always lead to frustration.
God wants us to live free from all fear with a bold, courageous, confident faith in Him. Many people struggle with this because of different kinds of fear in their lives. The only answer to fear is faith in God, knowing He loves you unconditionally and individually.
Too often we want to skip the hard work and go directly to the results. I believe many times people are looking for some magic formula to transport them right to the finish line. Nobody wants to suffer or sacrifice.
Grace really is amazing. If you've been a Christian for any amount of time, chances are you have struggled with frustrating habits or been disappointed by failures or just couldn't do "it" (whatever your "it" is).
I was sexually, mentally, emotionally and verbally abused by my father as far back as I can remember until I left home at the age of eighteen. More than anything, I want you to know and really understand that anyone who has been abused can fully recover if they will give their life completely to Jesus.44 comments
It seems that many Christians end up halfway between bondage and victory. What I mean by that is they don't want to go back to where they came from, but they're just not sure they can make it all the way through and reach the ultimate goal. But Jesus didn't die for us to be halfway to anything He offers.
When you become a Christian, something truly amazing happens: God comes to live inside your heart. You become the home of God. If we're going to really live the Christian life, we need to decide to surrender all of our heart4 comments
