A 15-year-old Honor student in Utah is the prime suspect in the murder of his two younger adopted brothers.

Police found the 15-year-old boy, who was not identified because he is a minor, wandering the streets with blood stains several miles away from the home. Earlier, his mother came home from a dance recital with the other three siblings and found that her adopted 4-year-old son and 10-year-old son were stabbed to death. The boys' father is reportedly in the Air Force and on his way home from Alabama.

Investigators believe they may know the motive, given that the 15-year-old spoke "pretty bluntly," according to CNN. However, Sheriff Todd Richardson of West Point, Utah, said, "I don't want to speculate what was going through his mind, but he is a natural child of the family and the two children who were victims in this were both adopted."

"[T]here has been things that have been brought forth that is part of an active investigation, and as time goes on, it will be released as to why he did what he did."

A neighbor Ann Durrwachter told the Desert News, "From what I understand, he's (the 15-year-old boy) a model student, from what I've heard."

"I've never had any complaints about him or his family. I always figured him as a model 15-year-old that every mom dreamed of having. He was just carefree almost. He just kind of did his own thing as most boys do."

The 15-year-old is being held at Farmington Bay Youth Detention Center but has not been formally charged yet.
