"16 & Pregnant" star Jamie McKay has taken a huge step and admitted that she not only had an abortion but that she regrets that decision. McKay's first pregnancy was documented by MTV, but McKay chose not to have her second child with boyfriend Ryan McElrath.

"Thank you for all the love and support but I want you to know I did not miscarry. I chose abortion. I chose it out of fear," McKay tweeted. "I feel like I made a mistake and I can't take it back. I have had this in my heart and it has been very hard on me. I was afraid to be judged by my family, my mother, even my dad, so I did it before they could find out."

The 19-year-old already has one child, Miah, with McElrath. McKay posted a photo of her second child's sonogram with the caption, "Rest in peace little angel. September 17, 2012." It has been taken down in light of the vicious comments left by Twitter users.

McKay also tweeted that she "should have looked into my options more but I didn't." At least one "Teen Mom" star decided that adoption was right for her, and she has since received a lot of support for her decision. Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra gave up custody of their daughter Carly and today have a relationship with their daughter and her adoptive parents.

While many have criticized McKay for her choice, others have supported and thanked her for coming forward and revealing the truth about her situation.

"No matter how you feel about abortion, the fact that Jamie McKay was open and honest with the public is admirable. She didn't have to say anything and could have kept it to herself," noted Corrina Jean, author of an article on celebs.gather.com.
