Unlike the uber-formal awards ceremony that is the Oscars, the Golden Globes are a light-hearted and fun-filled affair that make for an extremely entertaining watch.
The 2017 Golden Globes awards ceremony will kick-off on Sunday night. The 74th edition of the annual awards ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. The Tonight Show star is the first new host in seven years, after four stints from the oft-controversial and hilarious Ricky Gervais and three from his former Saturday Night Live co-stars Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
When and Where to Watch the 2017 Golden Globes
The main show will air on NBC at 8 p.m. EST on January 8. NBC will be airing the Golden Globes Arrival Special at 7 p.m. EST which is worth watching if you're interested in seeing this year's fashion trends and candid interviews with the attending stars.

This Year's Nominees and Our Predicted Winners
The nominees and winners across movies, television and music are selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The HFPA, which began in the 1950s as a handful of L.A. journalists, now represents 56 countries.
Best Film -- Drama
Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight.
Manchester by the Sea is a phenomenal film but it may be usurped by the critically-acclaimed Moonlight for the Golden Globe. The movie has already picked up awards for Best Feature and Best Screenplay at the Gotham Awards Ceremony along with a Critic's choice award for Best Acting Ensemble.
Best Film -- Musical or Comedy
20th Century Women, Deadpool, Florence Foster Jenkins, La La Land, Sing Street.
Deadpool, a brilliantly refreshing superhero movie that stayed true to its character from the comics, will almost certainly lose out to the critics and audience favorite La La Land. The musical's leads, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, are expected to win best lead actor and actress awards while Damien Chazelle wins best director.
Best Television Series -- Drama
The Crown, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, This is Us, Westworld.
HBO and Netflix go head-to-head in the battle for the best drama television series. All the shows have massive fan-followings and are equally deserving of the award with The Crown, Stranger Things, and Westworld being the strongest contenders. Our choice? Westworld.
Best Television Series -- Comedy
Atlanta, black-ish, Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, Veep.
FX's first TV series, Atlanta, appears most likely to bag the award, despite the popularity of black-ish and Veep. Atlanta will be the winner in no small-part thanks to Donald Glover's wonderful performance which is likely to earn him the best actor award as well.

Best Actor in a Drama

Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy
Colin Farrell The Lobster, Ryan Gosling La La Land, Hugh Grant Florence Foster Jenkins, Jonah Hill War Dogs, Ryan Reynolds Deadpool.
Best Actress in a Drama
Amy Adams Arrival, Jessica Chastain Miss Sloane, Ruth Negga Loving, Natalie Portman Jackie, Isabelle Huppert Elle.
Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy
Annette Bening 20th Century Women, Lily Collins Rules Don't Apply, Hailee Steinfeld The Edge of Seventeen, Emma Stone La La Land, Meryl Streep Florence Foster Jenkins.
Notable Mention
Meryl Streep, star of Florence Foster Jenkins, will attend the show as this year's recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award for "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment." The 67-year-old actress — a three-time Oscar winner — has earned 29 Golden Globe nominations in her 40-plus year career in film and has won eight.
