'23 Blast' Trailer Tells True Story of Football Player That Goes Blind and Keeps Playing

The trailer for the inspiring new film "23 Blast" tells the true story of Travis Freeman, a high school football player who tragically loses his eyesight, but maintains his spot on the team.

Freeman played football for Corbin High School in the mid 1990's when he lost his vision to bacterial meningitis. Despite the obstacles, Freeman was determined to make it back onto the football field. Today, the Kentucky native's remarkable story about beating the odds and reaching his own field of dreams has reached the big screen with "23 Blast."

"I don't know things like this happen to good people," Freeman's football coach ruminates in the trailer.

Although Freeman could have let his blindness crush his spirit, the high school student learns to live with the new condition with help from his friends, family, and faith. By first stepping back onto the football field, Freeman eventually summons the courage to fully resume all aspects of his life in a story that proves "vision is within."

"Let's figure out how to whip this. There won't be anybody to guide you - you will be on your own," Freeman's mobility coach warns.

"Good, because I don't want any special treatment," Freeman replies.

"23 Blast" depicts hope triumphing over despair, of courage and faith overcoming fear and of victory prevailing over adversity. Moreover, the family-friendly film is specially designed to encourage and uplift audiences.

In the role of Freeman is television star Mark Hapka who appears opposite of Dylan Baker, Stephen Lang, and Becky Ann Baker, among many more. The trailer for "23 Blast" debuted on Aug. 1, offering viewers the first look at the incredible story. Watch the trailer for "23 Blast" here; the film opens in theaters on October 3.
