343 Industries Responds to Latest Leaked Halo 5 Gameplay Footage and Rumors

Over the weekend, a handful of leaked Halo 5 gameplay videos emerged and caused a stir among fans.

As reported by Eurogamer, the videos are already removed but fans of the series are quite worried having seen the "sprinting and aiming down sights," the set of abilities unknown in the early Halo games.

Game Spot later said in their report that 343 Industries' executive producer, Josh Holmes, took to his social media to "put fans at ease."

In his Twitter post, Holmes indicated that "No penalty to hip fire in H5, no movement penalty when scoping/zooming, no flinch."

The EP further added that Halo fans should tune in instead to the proper beta gameplay reveal which will happen during the HaloFest, prior to the "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" release date for Xbox One.

To detail out the video, viewers saw that there appears to be a new kind of scope mechanic. As demoed in one clip, the Battle Rifle works a lot like the "aim down sights system" found on other FPS games like Call of Duty and BattleField.

Halo has long been known for its "combined hip fire with a scoping system" that doesn't affect the player's mobility.

Another aspect that caught the attention of fans was the sprint system. The mechanic was first integrated at Halo 4 and it caused some controversy.

The Twitter post, as mentioned above, was further trailed with questions. In particular, one person asked about the Descope.

"Descope is back! And … that's the last thing I'll confirm before tomorrow. Don't want to spoil the reveal!" as what Holmes confirms on his Twitter.

"Halo 5: Guardians" beta version begins this December.
