4,200 Gather for Christian Home Educators of Colorado State Conference

The 20th annual Christian Home Educators of Colorado State Conference was held in Denver, June 17-19, drawing about 4,200 parents and teens from Colorado, other western states including Texas and California, and even Australia.

The main purpose of the four-day conference was to encourage homeschooling by focusing on the Biblical worldview. The conference observed how the Lord led the history of homeschooling that spread through the early pilgrims -- including the struggles, obstacles, and challenges they faced. Featured speakers include Doug Phillips of VisionForum and Chris Klicka of Home School Legal Defense Association.

The conference also provided an opportunity for home school students to demonstrate their talents through musical performances and worship dance. The highlight of the conference was Friday evening's concert performed by The Von Trapp Children, a home school family from Montana who are internationally known for singing gospel, spiritual, American and European folk music. A group of local home educated students ages from 8 to 18 were rewarded for their excellent work in art and literature.
