Mario Bautista has topped the Billboard Social Media 50 chart. He's now sharing the spotlight along with stars like Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. Just recently, he has reached more than 8 million followers on his social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Vine and Tumblr.

Meet the 20 year old Mexican who captured the hearts of millions of netizens. Here are five facts about Mario Bautista that helped him reach social media stardom:

1. Mario Bautista comes from a family of musicians.
Fans already know that Mario can sing and dance, but not everyone is aware that he actually came from a very talented family of musicians. In fact, he is a cousin of the famous singer Fey. Mario has always loved singing since he was just a little kid. He also took dance and voice lessons at a very young age.

2. He's just a normal kid.
When asked how he felt about being on top of the charts and sharing the spotlight with famous performers and superstars, he said that for him, being real and just a normal kid is one of the things his fans like about him. He said famous people are "unreachable" and that people today want to see normal talented kids doing great things. He is very grateful that he could fulfill his dreams just by doing what he enjoys doing.

3. He listens to his fans and is open to random suggestions.
Mario takes time to listen to his fans and responds to them as soon as he can. He would do random things that his online fans would ask him to do, which his fans find so endearing. His online followers are always looking forward to what fan requests he will oblige to.

4. He wants change in his country.
Mario wants to send messages of love and positivity in his videos online. He also wants to change his country in terms of social class segregation and bullying, and said that he has learned a lot from his travels to different countries. After his trip to Columbia, he finally thought that if he wanted change in his country, he should be that change.

5. He became popular by doing short comedy sketches online.
Before his inclusion in the Billboard charts, Mario did short comedy sketches for his YouTube Channel MarioBautistaGil and for his Vine account. These two social media accounts have a large following and still continue to get more followers and requests today. Despite being busy with his many local and international commitments, Mario still manages to post regularly in his Vine account with popular Vine poster Curtis Lepore.
