A new Elsa and a moral lesson in 'Frozen 2'

If any animated feature phenomenon deserves a sequel, it is Disney's "Frozen". It is still a rage and has led to a lot of spin-offs. "Frozen" remains the highest-grossing animated movie of all time and that by itself speaks of its potential to start a "Frozen" franchise.

The animated characters, Anna and Elsa, have shown true staying power. Their doll versions recently zoomed past Barbie in sales. YouTube is full of inspired "Frozen" songs by millions of fans throughout the world. What is Disney waiting for?

Disney has never been into the 'sequel' business unlike its competitor, Pixar. But fan pressure and changing dynamics of movie making and revenue streams indicate that brainstorming has started for "Frozen 2"

Director Chris Buck said, "We have an overall idea, a concept, which I think is a very strong one. I'm very excited about doing it."

So what does a person need to expect from "Frozen 2"?

At the start, Elsa needs to shed her serious mood and get into a sunny space. Elsa did that in the short, "Frozen Fever". This positive Elsa could easily sail into "Frozen 2". As Chris Buck says, "In the movie, Elsa went through a very dramatic character arc, and in Frozen Fever, she got to lighten up. We saw a bit more of her personality. So then we started thinking about what we could do with all of these characters in another film."

The huge success of "Frozen" was in most parts due to the bond the sisters, Anna and Elsa shared. Buck says, "We have two very strong female leads."

Apparently, "Frozen 2" will have Anna and Elsa going on an adventure together, strengthening their bond. This, despite Elsa donning the responsibilities of a queen and Anna pursuing her own way.

Chris Buck feels a responsibility to the children who form a huge chunk of the audience.
He says, "When the kids watch [Disney movies], they watch them over and over again, and if we don't have a decent message in there, I think we've missed an opportunity."

Even if "Frozen 2" exists on the drawing boards as of now, those are the things that people should expect from it..
