These two teams are probably the favorites to qualify from this group to the knock out rounds. However, at this early stage nothing is guaranteed, and both sides will be looking to get the upper hand in this match up.

Both sides have certainly disappointed until now, with Milan only managing to get the draw against Anderlecht in their first group game, and Zenit being badly beaten by Malaga in theirs.

Because of their poor results in the first round of matches, a loss for either side here could set the alarm bells ringing and would put intense pressure on them to pull a string of victories together in the coming games if they are to qualify for the last 16.

Milan have had troubled keeping a consistent style of play in the opening part of this season and have experimented with various formations and strategies. It all points to a side very much at unease at the moment, and Zenit will have seen this and will be hoping to claim the win today.

However, that said Zenit have problems of their own, with their opening game debacle against Malaga acting as proof that there is not complete harmony within their own ranks.
