Alaska Airlines Prayer Cards

Alaska Airlines not only serves up a nice meal during its flight but provides an official airline prayer card for many customers who like to say grace before eating.

According to Jack Evans, manager of external communications for Alaska Air, who responded to a columnist’s concerns over the prayer cards, they began as a marketing idea inspired by Continental Airlines to "fancy up the meal service since many folks like to give thanks before a meal."

The cards, Evans explained, are an “added feature of our service, much like added services available with other products people purchase.”
"We get far more (responses) from folks who do (like the prayers). (And), since the cost is minimal to print them, and since it would wreak far more havoc from those who like them if we were to remove them, the cards are here to stay,” he said.
