Amanda Seyfried 'Ted 2' Role Scooped, Mila Kunis Replaced as Love Interest

Amanda Seyfried's "Ted 2" role may have pushed Mila Kunis a bit further out of the picture in the sequel. The 28-year-old actress was cast by Seth McFarlane to have a lead role in the comedy, whose predecessor grossed $218 million domestically and $549 million worldwide.

Amanda Seyfried was cast in "Ted 2" as the female lead alongside Mark Wahlberg, who plays John Bennett, and Ted, who is voiced by Seth McFarlane. The reasoning behind MacFarlane's casting choices haven't yet been revealed, but the move could mean Kunis' role is significantly smaller, even though her character Lori married John at the end of the first film.

"It looks like Mila Kunis will only appear in a tiny role, if at all, in the sequel," Deadline reported. "I'm told this has nothing to do with anything other than a creative decision that MacFarlane decided to take with the plotting of the sequel."

However, the "Family Guy" creator and Kunis haven't severed their relationship— they have worked together on the animated show as the voices of Peter and Meg, respectively, for over a decade.

"[MacFarlane] and Kunis remain close, I'm told, and she continues to provide the voice of Meg in MacFarlane's Family Guy," the Deadline writer added.

Seyfried's takeover of the starring female role for "Ted 2" could have something to do with her working with MacFarlane on "A Million Ways To Die In The West," a comedy western set to be released May 30 of this year. In the film she plays MacFarlane's girlfriend, and the movie also features Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman and Neil Patrick Harris.

The "Les Miserables" actress also previously said she isn't above "begging" for a role she really wants.

"Three years ago, a director told me I wasn't made for a certain role and he didn't want to meet me. I called up the casting director and begged him to let me have a trial," she told France's Grazia magazine. "I went and he once again told me it was a no. I contacted an acting coach … and did the audition in a different accent, begging them to see me another time."

"They gave the role to someone else: but it didn't matter, I just wanted to be sure I had done my best," the 28-year-old actress explained. "It's my biggest strength: not being scared of doing castings that some actresses think they're above."

"Ted 2" starring Wahlberg, Seyfried and MacFarlane is slated for release June 26, 2015.
