'American Crime' Season 2 News, Spoilers: John Ridley Shares Details On New Series
ABC's hit anthology crime drama TV series "American Crime" is now getting prepped up for its return with a brand new second season this Jan. 6, 2016 at 10 p.m. Slated to appear are Season 1 regulars like Timothy Hutton, Felicity Huffman, Lili Taylor, Elvis Nolasco, Regina King, and Richard Cabral.
It has already been reported that the new season will tackle the issue of sexual orientation and socioeconomic disparity. Set to star is "Falling Skies" actor Connor Jessup who will play Taylor Blaine, a teenager who got sexually assaulted at the high school he attended.
During the Season 2 premiere, viewers will get to find Taylor accusing two basketball varsity players – Kevin LaCroix and Eric Tanner – of "drugging, assaulting, and then posting the pictures of him online" after he attended a school party. Standing by his side is his mother Anne (Lili Taylor) who got publicly assailed by the wealthy members of the school. His girlfriend, Evy (Angelique Rivera) suffers from racial tension at her own school.

In an attempt to clear and maintain the school's reputation, headmistress Leslie Graham (Felicity Huffman) will exploit privileges to cover up the scandal. Dan Sullivan (Timothy Hutton), on the other hand, will try to patch things up within the team. Meanwhile, his own family is on the verge of a breakdown.
John Ridley, who serves as executive producer, told Variety in August that "[they] wanted to take incidents that sometimes in other shows tend to be week-to-week and episodic and not just use them merely as plot points, but really see how they play out with family, how they have a cascade effect over time, and with the community as well."
Trading Modesto, California for Indianapolis, Ridley says the new location represents America as a whole.
To reiterate, "American Crime" Season 2 premieres Jan. 6 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
