'American Crime Story' News: Marcia Clark Talks New Series: 'Reliving a Nightmare'

A lot of people have aired their thoughts about the controversial and hit show "The People v. O.J Simpson: American Crime Story," and this time, it's another person who Simpson's family know very well.

In an interview with The View on Wednesday, the district attorney's lead prosecutor in Simpson's trial, Marcia Clark, recalled the events that occurred way back 1994 — a time when racism and sexism were big issues in the society.

When asked about how she sees the new series that once again puts the trial of the century back in the spotlight, Clark said, "For me it's reliving a nightmare." 21 years ago, she was right there and saw how the people reacted to Simpson's story. Today, she's sitting back and is being reminded of how the trial rocked the entire American community and made headlines around the world.

"It's a painful experience, and yet I have to tell you it's a measure of how good it is that it hurts that much because that tells you they're getting the big stuff so right," she explained. As everyone already knows, firsthand experience is always to be trusted and in this case, people should understand why Clark can't really watch the hit series with ease just as other people do.

Referring to the show's creator, Clark commended Ryan Murphy for putting together not just the people who will depict the story but also the thoughts that will portray the story in the best way possible. She is glad that two decades later, someone finally opened doors for people to start discussing some taboo issues such as racism and sexism. Pretty sure, it's not just Clark who appreciates Murphy and his team's courage that led them to dig into the Simpson trial's grave.

The show premiered on Tuesday with a bang, and according to Variety, the first episode garnered a record of 5.11 million viewers, as recorded by Nielsen. The figures have conquered the previous record of "The Shield," which recorded 4.38 million viewers.

"American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson" airs every Tuesday, at 10 p.m. on FX.
