1. First off is the terrifying old man/baby monster that was unleashed by Tate (Evan Peters) and Violet (Taissa Farmiga) in the basement of Leah. The creature is later found out to be the body of Thaddeus Montgomery.

2. In the episode titled "Asylum," Dr. Thredson (Zachary Quinto) is always troubled. He brings Lana to his home after he helped her escape from Briarcliff. Lana then notices a lampshade that is made of human skin, and there is a candy bowl that looks like a skull. This is the moment then that Lana and the viewers realize that Dr. Thredson is Bloodyface. As the story moves on, Lana discovers Thredson's hobby room and falls into a trap where she finds Wendy's dead body on the floor. Everything about the basement is scary.

3. The scene that was one of the scariest was when Violet kept running out the front door but keeps on getting back to the house. Tate then brought her to the attic, only to find her own corpse. Violet's suicide was successful, and she never really survived it.

4. One of the most disturbing characters in the series is Twisty (John Carroll Lynch). In fact, there are moments that he seems to be harmless, yet he hurts a couple on their picnic blanket. He bashes them with bowling pins and stabs the boyfriend. What's even scarier is when Twisty speaks with Edward Mordrake (Wes Bentley) through the remnants of a mouth. The mouth has been destroyed with a shotgun blast.

5. Lastly, one of the scariest plots of the series was in the first season on the Westfield High Massacre. While there are a lot of scenes that are scary, the massacre is definitely on the top of the list.

These are just a few of the scariest scenes of the series, and there will be more since Season 6 will premiere a few months from now.
