'American Horror Story' Season 7 Spoilers: How the Election-Themed Season Will Connect to Previous Installments

The "American Horror Story" anthology has been one of the most sought-after series over at FX as it dares go to realms that incite either fear or curiosity. In the upcoming season 7, however, the series is going to dare delve into an extremely timely topic that has divided the country in more ways than one.

During the "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" show, series co-creator Ryan Murphy has revealed the theme for the upcoming installment in the long-running saga of horror. "Well I don't have a title, but the season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we went through," Murphy said. "So I think that will be interesting for a lot of people."

Surprised by what Murphy said, host Cohen couldn't help but ask a follow-up question. "Will there be, like, a Trump in it?" To this query, Murphy gave a teasing response by just saying, "Maybe."

The plot of "American Horror Story" gets real with the times and is going to be interesting to watch when it finally airs. What others are also asking now is if there will be a connection between season 7 and the previous ones, and if yes, how was it going to pan out.

Apparently, there will be some rather close connections to season 4, otherwise known for the theme "Freak Show." Murphy told Cinema Blend just how he hopes to achieve this stunt.

"Next year, we will be going back to some Freak Show characters, deeper histories and mythologies. So we're sort of still exploring Season 4 in Season 7," Murphy explained.

It is kind of difficult to see how the two themes would relate though. Will it be more like a depiction of the election as more of a freak show than a serious topic? That's just speculation, but one can't deny that could be one possibility.

Currently, series mainstays Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have confirmed participation in the upcoming season. No news has been heard yet as to who else joins them, and that will be something to watch out for.
