Android 4.4.4 Update Rolls Out for HTC One M8 and M7 Google Play Edition

The Android 4.4.4 update is now available for the HTC One M8 and M7 Google Play Edition.

The new software brings security patches, bug fixes and some UI changes. It is rolling out slowly and users should receive a notification for it. If they don't, they can always access it through the settings menu.

The Android 4.4.4 release schedule for the carrier versions of the HTC One M8 and M7 leaked earlier this week in a new company roadmap.

This was the first hint at the update which is now rolling out. The company is also testing 4.4.3 with Sense 6 on both devices, however, HTC might skip that version in order to speed up the process of getting Android "L."

Other devices such as the HTC One M8 dual-sim version, HTC One Mini 2 and the HTC One E8 will also be receiving Android 4.4.4 very soon.

The HTC One M7, HTC One Max, Butterfly S, Desire 816 and Desire 610 will remain on Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6.0. The HTC One Mini M4 will get Android 4.4.4 next month. This basically shows the company's commitment to having the latest versions of Android on its devices before its competitors.

The Android 5.0 "L" version update will roll out for the HTC One M7 and One M8 in the next 90 days.

HTC made the announcement for the software roll out earlier this week.

"HTC Customers and Enthusiasts, HTC is excited about the new features in Android L release and we can't wait to share them with you. We are committed to updating our flagship HTC One family as fast as possible as part of our HTC Advantage program," the company stated.

"We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 worldwide within 9 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices. HTC Advantage protects your smartphone investment, ensuring you have the best smartphone experience long after purchase," they added.
