Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Update Rolling Out for Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S4

US mobile carrier company AT&T first announced the roll out of the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for their Samsung Galaxy S4 units earlier this month. Now, customers of Verizon who own the 2013 flagship will also be getting the OS update.

The Galaxy S4 Lollipop update will have the new software version LRX22C.I545VRUGOC1.

Tech websites like Phone Arena and GSM Arena noted that the firmware patch will be rolled out gradually and it may take a few days before it reaches the user's unit. If it does, it will give a notification saying that the update is now ready to be downloaded and installed.

The floating action button meanwhile provides convenience in getting access to the important features of an app like composing a text message for the messaging app, adding a new contact in the phonebook app, and more others.

Like that of the iOS, the Android Lollipop now offers shortcuts for the Phone and Camera app in the new Lock Screen. Users can also adjust the priority and privacy setting for their notifications through the Lock Screen.

Meanwhile, rumors indicate that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition (GPE) will be getting straight the Android 5.1.0 Lollipop "in the near future."
