Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy Note II Update: Will the 2012 Phablet Flagship Get the New OS?

Bad news for those hoping to get their Samsung Galaxy Note II updated to the latest Android OS version, a slew of tech reports recently surfaced indicated that the 2012 Phablet flagship won't be having the Lollipop firmware.

A report from Phone Arena cited a social media post from Samsung Gulf, a branch of the South Korean tech giant company operating in the Persian Gulf, stating that owners of the Galaxy Note II should give up hopes of receiving the new sweet firmware update.

"The Lollipop update won't be released on the Note 2. Have a great day," the Facebook post from the said Samsung firm reads in response to a question posted by the social media user.

The publication meanwhile said that Samsung Gulf's statement is still left for some open interpretations.

"We should mention that it's not clear whether Samsung Gulf is referring to the version of the device that was sold locally or one of the international versions of the device (as a reminder, the Note II was available in both an LTE version and a 3G-only one)," the site wrote.

The tech website went on to say that Note II owners should still take the news with a grain of salt until Samsung releases an official statement on the issue.

The update, if there would be, will see the device with a refreshed Material Design-inspired TouchWiz interface as well a whole new host of Google Android 5.0 Lollipop updates.
